Urban Youth Worx Inglewood: Unveiling B-B-Q

Urban Youth Worx (UYW) was initiated in 1998 by 2 Calgary youth probation officers who wanted to create opportunities for youth to work off their community service hours in a meaningful way. UYW is a city wide program that carries out community development using the creative process. Over 30 projects have been completed throughout the city of Calgary. These projects are varied in scope, and range from murals to mosaics to videos to mask-making. UYW vision includes fostering vibrant communities by engaging youth and community partners in a creative process.

Community & Neighbourhood Services is committed to being a leader in building individual and community capacity. We aim to contribute to personal well-being and enhance the quality of life for Calgarians by:- Ensuring the availability of a broad range of social programs and recreational opportunities that are accessible to all Calgarians.- Encouraging the development and support of partnerships and cooperative relationships.- Facilitating the development and sustainability of community based organizations; mobilizing individuals and communities to promote community caring and responsibilityfor individual and community well-being.- Leveraging and aligning our resources in areas of greatest need. - Providing public information, education, referral and advocacy.
